Iran is a large country between the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf, the heart of ancient Persia and a land of great cities, mosques and gardens. Isfahan is famous for its vast Naqsh-e Jahan Square and tiled mosques, Shiraz for its poets' tombs and gardens, and the ruins of Persepolis lie nearby.
The desert city of Yazd has wind towers and fire temples, and Tehran is a sprawling capital below the Alborz Mountains. Persian hospitality is famous.
