Qatar

Qatar is a small, flat peninsula jutting into the Persian Gulf, one of the richest countries in the world. Doha, the capital, has the Museum of Islamic Art designed by I. M. Pei, the National Museum shaped like a desert rose, the Souq Waqif and the Corniche promenade.

Beyond the city lie the singing dunes and the inland sea of Khor Al Adaid, reached by four-wheel drive. Doha's airport is one of the great transit hubs, so many visitors come for a stopover of a day or two. Winter is the pleasant season.
