Kuwait is a small, flat desert country at the head of the Persian Gulf, one of the least visited in the region. Kuwait City is known for the Kuwait Towers with their blue-tiled spheres, the Grand Mosque, the Souq Al-Mubarakiya and a long seafront.
The Scientific Centre, the Tareq Rajab Museum of Islamic art and the Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre are its main museums. Failaka Island, reached by ferry, has Greek and Bronze Age ruins. Kuwait is mostly a short stopover, and the winter months are the pleasant season.
