Short description of Kerman
Kerman (کرمان) is the largest city of southeastern Iran and the base for the Lut desert. The Ganjali Khan complex in the old centre gathers a bathhouse, a caravanserai, a mint and a bazaar around one square, and the covered bazaar leads on from it for well over a kilometre. Outside the city the Shazdeh Garden at Mahan terraces water down a hillside in the middle of dry country and is listed by UNESCO, next to the turquoise shrine of Shah Nematollah Vali. The mud brick castle of Rayen sits below the mountains. The Kaluts, wind carved ridges in the Lut, begin further east.
