Short description of Zekreet
Zekreet is the west coast peninsula where the limestone has weathered into mushroom shaped rocks and flat topped mesas standing over pale desert. Four steel plates by Richard Serra run a kilometre across it between the dunes, each nearly fifteen metres high and rusted to the colour of the ground. Nearby a mock fort built as a film set is falling apart unmanaged, which is most of its appeal. Oryx and gazelle are kept in the Al Reem reserve around it. The track in is graded sand and wants a vehicle with clearance. Nobody collects a fee and there is no gate, no water and no shade out there.
