Comoros

The Comoros are a small island nation in the Mozambique Channel between Madagascar and the African mainland, one of the least visited countries in the world. The main island, Grande Comore, is dominated by the active Karthala volcano, and its capital, Moroni, has an old medina around a harbour of dhows.

Mohéli is a marine park where sea turtles nest and humpback whales pass, and Anjouan is known for ylang-ylang and cloves, whose scent fills the air. Facilities are basic, and Comorian, French and Arabic are official languages.
