Short description of Fomboni
Fomboni is the capital of Mohéli and the smallest of the three island capitals by a wide margin, a low town of one main street and a quay where the boats from the other islands come in. Almost everyone who lands here is on the way to the marine park on the south coast and stays for a single night at most. Inland the island rises to Dziani Boundouni, a sulphurous crater lake in a forested bowl that is the one real sight on this side. The island airport is fifteen minutes away by road.
