Short description of Chomoni
Chomoni is the beach the capital drives to on a free afternoon, a curve of pale sand set between black lava headlands on the east coast. The contrast of white sand against the dark rock is the reason people photograph it, and the swimming is sheltered inside the reef. There is almost nothing built here, no hotel and a single drinks shack, so everyone comes for the day and leaves before dark. Bouni a little further up the same coast is quieter still. The road across the island from Moroni takes about forty minutes each way.
