The Seychelles are an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean northeast of Madagascar, known for granite boulders framing some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Anse Source d'Argent on La Digue and Anse Lazio on Praslin are the most famous, and the Vallée de Mai on Praslin, listed by UNESCO, shelters the giant coco de mer palm.
Mahé, the main island, has the small capital Victoria and forested mountains. Giant tortoises roam Curieuse and Aldabra. Ferries and short flights link the islands, and prices are high.
