Description
The Soča Valley (Soška dolina) is one of Slovenia’s most spectacular landscapes, shaped by the emerald-green to turquoise waters of the Soča River as it winds through the Julian Alps. The region is known for its dramatic gorges, waterfalls and clear mountain rivers, as well as outdoor activities such as rafting, kayaking, canyoning and via ferrata. The valley also bears witness to the fierce battles of the Isonzo Front during World War I, documented at the Kobarid Museum. Highlights include the Great Soča Gorge, Kozjak and Boka waterfalls, and the source of the Soča. The Vršič Pass connects the valley with Kranjska Gora and the Julian Alps.
