Lake Bohinj (Bohinjsko jezero) is Slovenia’s largest natural lake, nestled in the heart of the Julian Alps within Triglav National Park. Formed by glaciers, the lake is known for its clear, cool waters and largely unspoiled surroundings. Highlights include the impressive Savica Waterfall, reached by a short but steep trail, and the Vogel Cable Car, which offers panoramic views of the lake, surrounding peaks, and Mount Triglav. At the eastern end of the lake, the picturesque Church of St. John the Baptist in Ribčev Laz features remarkable medieval frescoes. Bohinj is renowned as one of Slovenia’s most scenic and tranquil alpine destinations.
