Description
Diekirch sits on the Sûre where the Ardennes open out, a market town best known for the National Museum of Military History, which reconstructs the Battle of the Bulge in room-sized dioramas and holds one of the largest collections of vehicles and equipment from that winter anywhere. The town was on the front line and its liberation is marked across the centre. Roman mosaics found under the streets are displayed in the municipal museum, and the old church of Saint Laurence stands over Merovingian graves. The Diekirch brewery has given the country its everyday beer for generations.
