Vanuatu is an archipelago of more than eighty islands in the South Pacific, known for active volcanoes, blue holes and a strong village culture. On Tanna, visitors stand on the crater rim of Mount Yasur, one of the most accessible active volcanoes in the world.
Espiritu Santo offers Champagne Beach, freshwater blue holes and the wreck of the SS President Coolidge, one of the best wreck dives anywhere. The capital Port Vila on Efate is the main gateway, and the land diving ritual on Pentecost, a forerunner of bungee jumping, takes place from April to June.
