Vanuatu · Shefa · 59 m
Description
Port Vila is the capital of Vanuatu and the harbour every visitor passes through, wrapped around a deep bay on the south coast of Efate with Iririki island sitting in the middle of it. The town is small and walkable, its market hall trading produce six days a week and its waterfront lined with French bakeries left over from the condominium years. Within an hour by road are the Mele Cascades, the marine sanctuary at Hideaway Island with its underwater post office, and the blue holes and beaches of the east coast. Evenings belong to the nakamal, where kava is drunk at dusk.
