Description
The Morne Seychellois National Park (Parc national du Morne Seychellois) covers a fifth of Mahé and rises to nearly nine hundred metres, a block of granite peaks wrapped in mist forest that most visitors never see because everything else here is a beach. Trails climb through cinnamon and takamaka to glacis rock slabs with views over both coasts at once. The pitcher plant and several endemic palms grow only above the cloud line. Ruined plantation houses and an old mission lodge stand along the Sans Souci road that crosses the park from Victoria. The trails are short but steep and slippery after rain.
