Myanmar lies between India, China and Thailand, a country of golden pagodas and Buddhist traditions. Yangon is dominated by the gilded Shwedagon Pagoda, and the plain of Bagan is covered with more than two thousand temples, best seen from a balloon at sunrise. Inle Lake is known for its leg-rowing fishermen and floating gardens, and Mandalay was the last royal capital. The country has been in conflict since the military coup, and most governments advise against travel to large parts of it, so current advice must be checked before any plan.
