Brunei is a small, wealthy sultanate on the north coast of Borneo, divided into two parts by Malaysia. Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital, is dominated by the golden domes of the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque and the Jame' Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque.
Kampong Ayer, a village of houses on stilts over the Brunei River, is one of the largest water villages in the world, and boats run through the mangroves to see proboscis monkeys. The rainforest of Ulu Temburong National Park has a canopy walkway. Brunei is quiet and alcohol-free.
