Zlatibor
Serbia · Western Serbia · 1000 m
Description
Zlatibor is the mountain resort Serbia goes to, a plateau of rolling pasture and pine at around a thousand metres that has been a spa since a Serbian king took the waters here in 1893, and it works in both summer and winter. The Gold Gondola, opened in 2021, runs nine kilometres from the centre to Tornik, which makes it the longest cable car in the world by some counts. Around it are the Stopica cave, a beehive of a village museum at Sirogojno, and the smoked pork the region is known for across the Balkans.
