Description
Mokra Gora holds two things built for effect that turned out to work. The Sargan Eight is a narrow gauge railway that climbs three hundred metres of hillside by looping itself into a figure of eight, abandoned in 1974 and rebuilt as a heritage line in the nineteen nineties, and a steam train runs the loop in about two and a half hours. Above it Emir Kusturica built Drvengrad, a whole wooden village as a film set for his own use and then kept it, with a church, a cinema and streets named after people he admires.
