Description
Kopaonik is the largest ski area in Serbia, a broad rounded massif in the south with around sixty kilometres of piste running off a summit ridge at two thousand metres and a season that holds from December into April. The name means the mine, and lead, zinc and silver were dug out of these slopes from Roman times until the twentieth century. It is a national park in summer, when the same lifts serve walkers and mountain bikers and the high meadows carry an unusual concentration of endemic plants.
