Description
Yaremche (Jaremtsche) is the resort town of the Ukrainian Carpathians, strung along the Prut valley below the Hoverla massif with a waterfall in the middle of town and a permanent craft market beside it. It has been a summer station since Austrian times and is the base for walking, for the Hutsul villages up the side valleys and for the climb to Hoverla, the highest mountain in the country at two thousand and sixty one metres. Winter brings a quieter skiing crowd than Bukovel twenty kilometres away.
