Uman, Ukraine

Uman

Ukraine · Cherkasy Oblast · 210 m

Description

Uman has two entirely separate reasons to exist as a destination. Sofiyivka Park is a romantic landscape garden laid out in 1796 by a Polish count for his wife, with grottoes, an underground river you row through and a two hundred year old collection of trees, and it is one of the most visited paid attractions in Ukraine. The other is the grave of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, which draws tens of thousands of Hasidic pilgrims from Israel and the United States every Rosh Hashanah, a movement that has continued straight through the war.
