Description
Truskavets (Truskawez) is the largest spa town in Ukraine, a Galician resort of wooden villas and sanatoria in the Carpathian foothills that has been prescribing its mineral water since the eighteen twenties. The water in question is Naftusia, an oily, sulphurous spring taken for kidney and liver complaints and drunk from a spouted cup in a purpose-built pump room that is the social centre of the town. Several hundred thousand people a year come for two and three week cures, which makes this a mass destination that almost no foreign visitor has heard of.
