Short description of Vwaza Marsh

Vwaza Marsh is a wildlife reserve of miombo and floodplain right on the Zambian border, low and hot and completely unlike the cold plateau of Nyika an hour away to the east. Its lagoon holds one of the densest hippo populations in the country, and elephants come down to drink in front of the camp, which is close enough that the viewing needs no vehicle at all. Buffalo and roan antelope move through the surrounding woodland. The camp beside the water is a simple one, and there is nothing else at all inside the reserve.
