Short description of Liwonde National Park

Liwonde is the country's flagship park and the easiest place in it to see a great deal in a very short time, because the Shire runs right through the middle and everything comes down to drink. Boat safaris along the river pass hippo pods and elephant herds at close range. Black rhino live here too, and cheetah and lion were both brought back after decades of complete absence. A fence now rings the whole park, which has ended the conflict with the villages outside. Two river camps between them take almost all of the visitors.
