Short description of Senga Bay
Senga Bay is the stretch of lakeshore closest to the capital, about a hundred kilometres east, which makes it the busiest weekend beach in the country and the one most Malawians mean when they say they are going to the lake. Hotels line the sand here and boats run out to the rocky islands offshore where monitor lizards bask all day. A marsh just behind the shore holds hippos and can be walked with a guide at dusk. Kuti, a small fenced reserve just inland, has zebra and giraffe and makes an easy morning out.
