Short description of Nyika National Park
Nyika is a rolling montane grassland lying at well over two thousand metres, the largest park in the country and by some distance the coldest place in it, with frost on winter mornings and a look far closer to the Scottish highlands than to Africa. Roan and eland graze the open downs here and leopard are unusually often seen. More than two hundred species of orchid come out with the summer rains. Chelinda, a handful of stone chalets beside the pine plantations and the trout dams, is the only place in the park to stay.
