Short description of Mount Mulanje
Mulanje rises straight out of the tea estates as a single granite block twenty kilometres across, and Sapitwa on top of it is the highest point in all of Central Africa at three thousand and two metres. A network of forestry huts on the plateau lets walkers cross the massif over several days, sleeping at a different one each night with a guide and porters hired at the gate. The standard climb to the summit and back takes a full three days. Rain and cold mist arrive fast here and the wet months are genuinely dangerous.
