Short description of Cape Maclear
Cape Maclear is a long fishing village on a sheltered bay at the end of a peninsula, and the water in front of it is the world heritage site, the first anywhere listed for freshwater fish. Hundreds of cichlid species live on these rocks and nowhere else, and they are visible from the surface with a mask. Boats go out to the nearby islands to snorkel and to feed the fish eagles. The village itself is busy and noisy and the beach is shared with drying nets, which is a good part of the charm.
