Description
Trebinje is the southernmost town in Bosnia and Herzegovina, half an hour inland from Dubrovnik and warm enough for figs, pomegranates and vineyards on the karst around it. A walled old town of plane trees and stone lanes sits by the Trebišnjica, with an Ottoman bridge upstream and an Orthodox church on the hill above copied from a medieval model. Most visitors arrive as a day trip from the Croatian coast, which makes the town busy at midday and quiet again by evening.
