Short description of Serrekunda
Serrekunda is the largest town in the country and almost nobody sleeps here, because it has no hotels to speak of and sits ten minutes inland from the ones that do. What it has is the market, an enormous covered and open sprawl that supplies most of the coast and takes a morning to work through properly. Batik and tie dye workshops sit in the lanes behind it and will show the dyeing if asked. Traditional wrestling draws big crowds to the arena during the dry months. The place is loud, crowded and almost entirely Gambian.
