Short description of Banjul
Banjul is one of the smallest capitals in Africa, built on a sandy island at the river mouth and largely emptied out by the coastal towns that grew up behind it. A tall arch straddles the road in from the mainland, put up to mark a coup and now holding a small museum with the best view over the town. Albert Market fills several streets near the waterfront. The ferry to the north bank leaves from the end of the main street and is an experience in itself. Most visitors come for a morning and leave.
