Short description of Bakau
Bakau is the oldest of the coastal resorts and still a working town underneath the hotels, with a fish landing on the rocks at Cape Point and a market that serves people who live here. Its famous sight is a sacred pool in a compound behind the town where perhaps eighty crocodiles lie in the shallows and women come to ask for children. Visitors are allowed to reach out and touch the big ones. Botanical gardens run down towards the shore a short walk away. The headland at Cape Point has the calmest swimming on this coast.
