Description
Queen Elizabeth National Park is the most visited park in Uganda, spread across the rift floor between lakes George and Edward with the Rwenzori snows on one horizon and the Virunga volcanoes on the other. The Kazinga Channel joins the two lakes and carries the densest concentration of hippopotamus anywhere, watched from a launch that also passes elephant, buffalo and enormous colonies of waterbirds. The Ishasha sector in the south is known for lion that rest in the branches of fig trees. Crater fields, savannah and forest all lie inside the boundary. The main road to the southwest runs straight through the park.
