Description
Murchison Falls National Park is the largest protected area in Uganda and its most visited savannah park, split in two by the Victoria Nile. The falls themselves are the reason for the name, a river a hundred metres wide forced through a rock gap barely seven metres across and thrown out the far side in a roaring plume. A launch runs upstream to the base of them past hippo pods, crocodiles and elephants drinking at the bank. North of the river the Buligi grasslands hold lion, giraffe, buffalo and hartebeest on open ground. The park is large enough that its halves feel separate.
