Description
Kampala is the capital of Uganda and its loud, fast commercial centre, spread across a set of green hills each carrying a landmark of its own. The Kasubi Tombs on one of them hold the burial ground of the Buganda kings under an enormous thatched dome, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Rubaga and Namirembe cathedrals face each other from separate ridges, and the Gaddafi mosque tower gives the widest view over the city. Owino market and the taxi park run on constant motion. The Uganda Museum keeps the country's oldest ethnographic collection. Traffic is heavy and the hills make crossings slow.
