Kibale Forest

Description
Kibale National Park holds the highest density of primates anywhere in Africa, thirteen species living in a block of tall moist forest between the crater lakes and the rift. The chimpanzees are the reason most visitors come, and the habituated groups are tracked on foot each morning with a ranger, usually found feeding high in the fig trees. Red colobus, grey-cheeked mangabey and the L'Hoest's monkey share the same canopy. A longer habituation experience allows a full day with the apes. The Bigodi swamp on the boundary is run by the neighbouring village. Permits are limited and the morning groups fill early.
