Short description of Malanje

Malanje is the base for the two best known natural sights in the whole country, and it is otherwise a quiet provincial town some eight hours inland from the capital. Kalandula is a curtain of water more than a hundred metres high and several hundred metres wide, one of the largest falls in all of Africa by volume, and it is thunderous in the months after the rains and much reduced by the end of the dry season. The black monoliths of Pungo Andongo stand straight out of the flat country an hour to the southwest.
