Short description of Iona National Park
Iona is the largest national park in the whole country, a long stretch of the Namib running from the cold Atlantic to the Cunene and the Namibian border, and African Parks took over its management in twenty nineteen. Dunes, gravel plains and wide welwitschia fields fill most of it, and the wildlife is sparse and only slowly returning. Himba families still graze their cattle across the whole south of the park. The first tented camp opened only recently, and everything else here is self sufficient overland travel with a convoy and your own fuel and water.
