Short description of Lubango
Lubango stands at over seventeen hundred metres up on the Huíla plateau and has the mildest climate of any large town anywhere in the country, which is why Portuguese settlers from Madeira founded it here. A white figure of Christ up on the ridge above the town looks out over all the roofs. The two sights that draw everybody here are within half an hour, the Tundavala gap where the plateau simply ends in a thousand metre drop, and the Serra da Leba pass, whose hairpins make up the most photographed road in all of Angola.
