Description
Kolomyia sits at the foot of the Carpathians and is the market town of the Hutsul highlanders, whose brass-inlaid woodwork, ceramics and sheepskin coats it has traded for centuries. Its Pysanka Museum is housed inside a thirteen metre painted Easter egg, which is exactly as odd as it sounds and is the reason most people stop here. The Museum of Hutsul and Pokuttia Folk Art next door holds the better collection, several thousand pieces of the mountain culture that Bukovel and Yaremche sell in simplified form.
