Description
Kidepo Valley National Park lies in the far northeast against the South Sudan border and is the most remote and least visited park in Uganda, which is exactly what makes it the finest. Two broad savannah valleys are ringed by mountains on every side, and the Narus valley holds water through the dry months, drawing buffalo herds in their thousands, elephant, giraffe and the country's only ostriches. Lion rest in the borassus palms. Cheetah and the striped hyena occur nowhere else in Uganda. Karamojong villages of thorn-fenced homesteads stand around the park boundary. Reaching it takes a full day of driving or a charter flight.
