Short description of Jeita Grotto
The Jeita Grotto (مغارة جعيتا) is a limestone cave system in the Nahr al-Kalb valley and the most visited natural site in Lebanon. It is two caves in one mountain. The upper gallery is walked on a concrete path between stalactites tens of metres long, among them one of the longest known anywhere, and the lower gallery is crossed by electric boat on an underground river that supplies part of Beirut with water. Cameras are left at the entrance. A cable car and a small train link the levels, and the wooded valley outside is laid out as a park.
