Description
Zagori (Ζαγόρι) is a spectacular mountain region in Epirus in northwestern Greece, known for its remarkable blend of nature, tradition, and distinctive stone architecture. The region is home to the 46 traditional Zagorochoria villages, historic stone arch bridges, cobbled paths, and characteristic stone houses. Highlights include the Vikos Gorge, the forests of the Pindus Mountains, and the crystal clear Voidomatis River. Villages such as Papigko, Monodendri, Vitsa, and Kipi offer an authentic glimpse into the region’s traditional mountain culture. The Zagori Cultural Landscape has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2023 and is one of Greece’s most impressive destinations for hiking, nature, and cultural discovery.
