Description
Triesenberg is the largest municipality of Liechtenstein by area and the only Walser settlement in the country, founded in the thirteenth century by German-speaking migrants from the Valais whose dialect is still spoken here and understood nowhere else in the valley. The village is scattered across a sunny terrace six hundred metres above the Rhine, with a domed onion-tower church at its centre and a museum of Walser life beside it. The road to Malbun climbs through it in tight hairpins. From the terrace the view runs the length of the valley into Switzerland and Austria.
