Description
Schaan is the largest municipality of Liechtenstein by population and its industrial and transport centre, holding the country's principal railway halt and its main bus interchange. A late Roman fort stood where the Saint Peter chapel now sits on a hill above the village, and its walls are still traceable. The TAK theatre is the principality's main stage. Above the settlement the Three Sisters massif rises in a wall of grey limestone, and the route onto it from Schaan is the classic approach for walkers coming straight off the valley floor. Most visitors pass through it on the way somewhere else rather than stopping.
