Description
Steg is a hamlet of wooden houses in the Samina valley at thirteen hundred metres, the last settlement on the road before the tunnel to Malbun, and the winter sports centre of Liechtenstein that has nothing to do with downhill skiing. Its cross-country tracks are the only ones in the country, floodlit in the evening and laid across the valley floor and up into the Valüna. A small reservoir sits above the hamlet. In summer the Valüna valley is an alpine pasture walked for its wildflowers and the marmots on the scree. The hamlet has a handful of houses and no shops of any kind.
