Description
Triesen lies south of Vaduz where the valley narrows and the Falknis massif closes in, an industrial municipality that keeps an unusually intact upper village of stone houses on the slope. Two small chapels there date from the medieval period, and the Saint Mamerten chapel stands alone above the vineyards on a terrace with a view down the whole Rhine valley. The riverside is a broad flood plain used for walking and cycling. Above the village the Lawena valley climbs into alpine pasture and is the gentlest way into the mountains from the valley floor.
