Description
Suzdal (Суздаль) is the Golden Ring town that industry never reached, a settlement of about ten thousand people with more than thirty churches and five monasteries scattered across meadows along the Kamenka. A local rule keeps buildings low, so the skyline is nothing but domes, bell towers and orchards. The kremlin holds the Nativity Cathedral with its blue star-covered domes and carved golden doors. Wooden churches moved here from surrounding villages stand in an open-air museum by the river. Mead has been brewed here for centuries and is poured in every dining room in town.
