Description

Skopelos (Σκόπελος) is a lush island in the Northern Sporades of the Aegean Sea, combining traditional island charm with spectacular natural beauty. The island is known for its dense pine forests that stretch down to the sea, its whitewashed Chora with winding streets, and its many churches and monasteries. Skopelos gained international fame as a key filming location for the musical film “Mamma Mia!”, particularly for the dramatic chapel of Agios Ioannis Kastri perched on a rocky outcrop above the sea. Crystal clear coves, traditional villages, local specialties such as Skopelos cheese pie and plums, and a relaxed atmosphere make the island a captivating destination in the Sporades.
